Pin Cushion

Wires emanate from acupuncture needles embedded in a woman's digital face which is projected onto a latex cushion hanging on a wall. By stroking and pulling the wires, visitors/participants manipulate the face which evolves to their cumulative interactions.

The facial morphogenesis depends on the physiological properties of the visitor: surface electrical conductivity, resistance to electrical currents, and the latent charge of the visitor's own body.

The character's life-span and well-being are dictated by how an audience's collective desires, intimately entwined with artwork and technology, transfuse through wire to needle to face over the exhibition period.
